Ulkomaali on vaivannut rakennuttajien mieltä koko suunnittelun ajan. Nykyisissä maaleissa kun on jonkin verran ongelmia. Kuten aiemmin kerroin, edellisen talomme ulkomaaliin tuli muutaman vuoden jälkeen homepilkkuja. Urakoitsija tai maalitoimittaja ei tietenkään ottanut asiasta vastuuta. Tämä kuitenkin on yleinen ongelma nykyään ja johtunee ainakin osittain homeenestoaineena käytetyn lyijyn korvaamisella tehottomimmilla aineilla EU:n vaatimuksesta. Mökillä taas lateksimaali kuoriutuu liuskoina irti ja edessä olevan huoltomaalauksen pohjatyöt hirvittävät jo etukäteen.

Valitsimme talon väriksi tarjolla olevista keltaisen, yhtenä ajatuksena mahdollisuus totetuttaa se perinteisellä keittomaalilla, keltamullalla. Multamaalin parhaita ominaisuuksia on helppo huoltomaalaus; pölyt pois ja uutta päälle. Pysyvyys ei kuitenkaan ole multamaalin parhaita ominaisuuksia, kuten eilen ilmestyneen Rakennusmaailma-lehden testistä saimme lukea.
