Mökille mennessä tuli matkan varrella olevasta Kirjapörssistä ostettua vitosella Kari Rantasen Suomalainen miehuuskoe – omakotirakentajan päiväkirja. Ja tuli se luettuakin. Aikamoinen projekti siinäkin on ollut. Siis rakentamisessa. Jos jokainen rakennushanke olisi noin rankka, puolet rakentajista olisi varmaan hullujen huoneella tai saanut sydärin.

Eipä silti, tuossa tehtiin töitä tosi paljon itse, eikä talokaan ollut ihan yksinkertaisimmasta päästä. Jotenkin tuntui myös siltä että se täydellistäkin paremman laadun tavoittelu ei varmaan olisi ollut ihan välttämätöntä. Talosta toki tuli varmasti hieno, mutta tavallisella 8-16 työssäkäyvällä henkilöllä ei ole mitään mahdollisuutta Rantasen kaltaiseen omistautumiseen.

Kovin ruusuista kuvaa (tämäkään) kirja ei anna rakentajan arjesta, rakentamisen laadusta tai rakennusalasta ylipäätään.

    Muistan, että kirjan kirjoittaneita naisia haastateltiin lehteenkin – oliko Hesariin. Mieleen jäi erityisesti toisen kirjailijan luonnehdinta, miten talon valmistuminen ei sitten lopulta aiheuttanutkaan mitään erityistä riemun tunnetta.

  3. Mäkin olen lukemassa tuota kirjaa. Todella monimutkaiselta rakennuksella vaikuttaa heidän projekti. Tämän kirjan perusteella me päätettiin, ettei meille tule mitään ylimääräisiä hienosteluja tai krumeluureja – yksinkertainen on kaunista.

  4. Kiitos kiitoksista – kunnia lankeaa kyllä lähes 99% miehelleni, joka on löytänyt itsestään luontaisen bloggaajan. Itsellä tuntuu olevan paitsi aika kortilla (tekosyy?) myös kohtuullisen korkea itsekritiikki kirjoittamisen suhteen.

    Tuosta kirjasta – luen sitä vasta itse ja täytyy sanoa, että välillä tukka pystyssä. Vaikka en vielä käytännössä tiedä mitään suurelementtirakentamisestakaan, ainakin idean tasolla elementeistä nopeasti pystytettävä puutalo tuntuu kyllä huomattavasti vaivattomammalta ratkaisulta kuin kivitalon kasaaminen harkko kerrallaan. Semminkin kun olemme miehen kanssa molemmat ”maallikkoja”, mitä tulee rakentamiseen.

    Kunnioitukseni ja ihailuni kaikkia hartiapankkirakentajia kohtaan on kyllä tämän oman projektin myötä kasvanut huimasti. Kovalla työllä ja sisulla yksityiset ihmiset toteuttavat sitä suomalaista unelmaa omakotitalosta. Hatun nostoni heille kaikille! Ja kovasti tsemppiä myös.
